The Beginning for our family!!!

As was said before we were married July 25th, 1992 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Lawton IA. Our wedding was bigger than my mom planned for my sisters but with Penni being the youngest she was able to get what she wanted.

We lived in Marcus IA after we were married and then for a short time we lived in Laurens. Than in April of 1993 Gene went Active Army and we were stationed at Fort Hood TX. Well he was there he went to Honduras for 4 months and than in August of 1994 Gene got out of the service. We lived in different areas of Iowa and Minnesota before we came to Sioux Falls SD.

By now Micky is 4 yrs old and on November 18, 1994 we welcomed another little boy to our family and named him Matthew Wayne. He was born with fluid in his lungs more than a baby is born with and was in intesive care for a few days. We have made some mistakes in our life and one of them was giving Penni's sister garnishship of Micky and Matthew. We were pushed out of their lives but instead of turning to our Lord we thought we could fix it ourselves.

We drove truck for Mau, Pacific Enterprises,Glover Trucking, Magnum and Prime Inc as a team but Gene has drove for Midland Transportation and some of the companies by himself. We also bought a truck and leased it on with Ahlers Enterprise.

The Beginning for Harvey Eugene (Gene) Schacherer

My story begins like many others, I was born on March 5, 1971, that is where the similarity ends. I was born at the University of Iowa to a single mother who was unable to raise me. So I lived with and became a member of Wayne and Cathy Schacherer's family.

I went to school at Laurens-Marathon Community School where I graduated in 1989. After graduation I went to Basic training and Advanced Individual Training(AIT) at Fort McClellan, Alabama where I completed my training in Military Police in December 1989.

July 1990 I met my future wife, Penni Koeppe, at a friends wedding in Lawton IA; a month later my Army Reserve Unit (4249th PSD, Pocahontas IA) was mobilized in support of Operation Desert Shield. While mobilized I spent 11 months on the east coast providing security for cargo being shipped into Kuwait.

After being demobilized I attended Western Iowa Tech for 1 year and took police science. The following year on July 25, 1992, Miss Penni Koeppe and I were married.

This ends my single story and begins our story as a family.
